Step 1: Your Pre-Session Consultation + Booking Meeting
Before we ever choose a session date, we’ll start with a pre-session consultation. This is where we get to talk through what you’re looking for, answer your questions, and make sure the session feels like a good fit.
These meetings are done in person and usually take about 30–45 minutes. We’ll go over session options, talk through ideas, and start planning the details so your portrait experience feels relaxed, personal, and intentional from the start.
Before scheduling this appointment, please take a moment to talk things over with your spouse, partner, or anyone else involved in the decision. It helps so much when everyone is on the same page before we meet.
Sessions begin at $250, with artwork, albums, prints, and image collections chosen separately after your session. During your consultation, we’ll talk through both the type of session you are envisioning and what you may want to do with your images afterward. This helps us choose the session option that best fits your goals.
A larger session with multiple locations, outfit changes, and a fuller story is usually best suited for clients who are hoping for a larger image collection, an album, wall art, or a more complete portrait experience. If you are only needing something simple, I’ll help guide you toward an option that makes more sense for what you actually need.
I believe your portraits deserve to be seen and enjoyed, not forgotten in a folder on your phone or computer. Because of that, printed products are an important part of my process. Albums, wall art, prints, and image collections are all available after your session, and digital files are included with many artwork and image collection purchases. I do not offer digital-file-only sessions, but I will help you choose the artwork and image options that make the most sense for how you want to enjoy your photos.
When you’re ready to book, a confirmation fee is required to hold your session date and time. That fee is applied toward your session fee, with the remaining balance due on the day of your session. Since each session is custom planned and time is reserved just for you, this helps protect the time set aside on my calendar.
When we reserve your session date, we’ll also schedule your design appointment, which usually takes place within a few days or less, after your photo session. This allows us to plan ahead based on the session type you choose and makes sure you already have time set aside to view your images and choose your finished artwork, albums, prints, and image collections.
For family sessions, all immediate family members need to be available for the session. And when it’s time for your portrait design appointment, anyone involved in making final image or artwork decisions should be there. It keeps the process simple, smooth, and much less overwhelming.
2. Your Photo Session
This is where the fun really begins.
By the time session day arrives, we’ll already have a plan in place for your locations, outfits, family photos, pets, special items, and anything else that makes the session feel personal to your senior. My goal is to keep the day organized and relaxed, so you can actually enjoy the experience instead of feeling like you have to figure everything out as you go.
During your consultation, we’ll talk through wardrobe, including what to wear for each location. I’ll also ask you to send photos of the outfits you are considering as soon as you can. This helps me plan the session more intentionally and create a detailed itinerary for your day.
The day before your session, I’ll send a detailed itinerary that includes which outfits we’ll photograph at each location, directions and addresses, parking details, parking fees if applicable, and any other helpful notes about where to meet or what to expect in that area.
The itinerary is not meant to feel rigid or set in stone. It is simply a guide to help us stay organized, make sure we don’t forget anything important, and help parents feel comfortable knowing where we are headed next.
And yes, last-minute outfit ideas are still welcome. Sending outfit photos ahead of time just gives me the best chance to plan the flow of the day, choose locations intentionally, and make sure your senior’s session feels smooth and personalized.
For senior sessions, I always encourage families to plan for a family photo while we’re together. Senior year gets busy so fast, and it is easy to keep putting it off. Since everyone is already dressed and gathered, it is the perfect time to capture that important family image. Grandparents are welcome too if they are available — I love including them.
Sessions can last anywhere from about one hour to several hours throughout the day, depending on which session type you choose. We’ll take breaks when needed and create a variety of looks, poses, and images so your gallery feels full of personality and variety.
When you arrive, we’ll go through the clothing, accessories, and any meaningful items you brought so we can put together the strongest looks for your session.
Bring the extra options. We may not use everything, but having choices is always better than wishing we had brought something along.
03. Your Design Appointment
Your design appointment, which was scheduled when you booked your session, is where you’ll see your images for the first time, relive the moments from your session, and choose how you want to enjoy your portraits in your home.
We’ll begin with a slideshow of your images, then go through your favorites together. From there, I’ll help you choose the artwork, album, prints, and image collections that make the most sense for your family, your home, your style, and your senior.
All artwork and albums are created through an award-winning professional lab and arrive finished and ready to enjoy. Whether you are looking for a beautiful album, a wall display, gift prints, digital images with your purchased artwork, or a combination of options, I’ll walk you through the choices so it does not feel overwhelming.
Print collections begin at $425, and metal wall art begins at $320. Most families invest $1,500–$2,200+ in their finished artwork, albums, wall art, and image collections from their session.
Payment options are available, including an in-house layaway program and after pay, so you can choose what works best for your family.
Anyone involved in making final image, artwork, or purchase decisions should be present at this appointment. This keeps the process simple, clear, and much easier for everyone.
